Our current struggles/tensions

Immigration

In early 2015, the congregation completed an adult Bible study on the current issues surrounding immigration to the United States. The study was facilitated by a member who is an immigration attorney and uniquely positioned to share the needs of the immigrant community with the church. Our eyes were opened to discrimination and injustices that we are sheltered from despite our close proximity to the Canadian border. We seek to continue to be a loving neighbor and provide assistance where possible. Some of our members feel called to serve in ministries such as Journey's End and provide support to Buffalo Chin Emmanuel Church a NY Mennonite Conference church plant.

Dealing with our sin

While generally in agreement that God's word teaches directly against sin of all kinds and clearly defines controversial acts as sinful, we are not inclined to exclude sinners from our body because that would leave the church empty on Sunday mornings. We seek  to provide a loving atmosphere for all sinners to find Christ and the redemption He offers. We will continue to grapple with how this looks just as the denomination and other Christian churches are throughout the world.
